Finding out that the prohibition in Norway in 1914 was not due to any morals, just the fact that there weren’t enough potatoes and grain to both feed the population and also to make moonshine and beer so we had to be pragmatic about it
@MaggieSoaresRex When I read I care that the chapters are not the same length because it tells me the author isn’t padding the shorter parts to match the longer parts that need more attention/explanation/building etc.
Fun fact about me: I use a ‘teenagers’ wheelchair. It’s tiny. 23inches wide.
If I’m struggling to get through these “gaps”, they are completely impassable for most wheelchair users and visually impaired people with dogs.

So often, we hear, “books teach empathy!” and “let them read anything as long as they’re reading,” and the thing is that some books are really racist or homophobic and those books teach racism and homophobia. Books are only as empathetic as the people who made them.
