Did you know honeybees can recognise and remember human faces for up to two days? 🐝
This remarkable ability allows them to identify individuals, showcasing their impressive cognitive skills.

Today our Community Policing Team launch the next Community Impact Day - working with other Emergency Service partners it’s our Summer Beach Campaign. My team will be out today and over the weekend with our 999 colleagues so please say hi 🍦😎 #beachsafe#communitypolicing
I expect a bold vision from all political parties to end the scourge of domestic abuse.
Here are my ideas for where we start ⬇️

It is always good to hear from judges who are committed to protecting survivors of domestic abuse. However, women do not feel safe under the current family court system because these judges are too far and between!

If you’re an employer, or you manage a team, you have a duty of care to your colleagues. That includes being able to spot signs of domestic abuse and knowing how to support. This toolkit can help make our community a safer place. @JerseySPB @FREEDAjsy

✳️ A fantastic article - sobering, but a very much needed read, highlighting the vile way victims of #DomesticAbuse (who are predominantly women) are treated within the #FamilyCourt, when trying to protect their children from abuse... the way their mental & physical health so often suffers as a result of CPIT (Court & Perpetrator Induced Trauma...
https://t.co/6KJ8alqc40
➡️ The trauma faced by many mothers, in court proceedings, causes long term mental health difficulties & numerous physical health issues. These health problems are then often used against victims of abuse.
➡️ Not only that, but the use of the highly controversial term "parental alienation," is used as a weapon to control & silence mothers. "PA" is frequently alleged against mothers who speak about domestic abuse & who seek to protect their children from the abusive parent.
➡️ I speak to many victims of #DomesticAbuse, who's health has been severely impacted by the trauma of family court - both physically & mentally worn down.
It is heart-breaking.
➡️ Child protection systems require victim-survivor mothers to leave & protect children from perpetrators... Yet, in private law proceedings, mothers are expected to support & promote child contact with fathers who have a history of perpetrating DA &/or DA convictions. These mothers are then faced with a catch-22 where whatever they do is "wrong."
⚠️ It is disgraceful that this is where we are at... in 2024... in your family courts @govuk@MoJGovUK@JudiciaryUK@RishiSunak@Keir_Starmer@AlexChalkChelt
➡️ Perpetrators demands should NEVER be placed above children's rights to be safe... & yet this is what is happening, with mothers left struggling with ill-health & feeling suicidal as a result of not being able to protect their children.
➡️ The Harm Panel report, produced in 2020, highlighted the harmful pro-contact approach in family court, yet still, there is no significant change. The family court remains shamefully dire, with continued systemic minimization of abuse in family courts, & with the system itself being used to inflict further trauma & suffering on mothers & children.
➡️ I 💯 agree on the recommendations put forward in this vital report, namely:
1) Immediate review & intervention into all "professionals" operating within family court;
2) Mandatory training & guidance for all professionals working within family courts (to improve responses to DA, coercive control, & patterns of behavior) & to promote trauma-informed skills so that practitioners can identify abusive behaviors & perpetrators, & provide effective support to victim-survivor children;
3) Prohibition of the use of "parental alienation," & similar labels, along with prohibition of any related "treatments/therapies."
➡️ There definitely needs to be a development of trauma-informed frameworks for CPIT that can be used by health/medical professionals in future, to better support domestic abuse & family court victims.
✴️ I look forward to seeing these matters urgently addressed @MoJGovUK@JudiciaryUK@CommissionerDA

🙏 I wish to thank you all for producing this very thorough & accurate reflection of what so many mothers are experiencing in #FamilyCourt today 💜
🙏 Also, sincere appreciation to all the mothers who bravely took part in this study. Your voices are so important in this on-going battle to fix the broken systems & the way #DomesticAbuse victims are treated.
You are heard & valued. 💜
✅️ Reform family court ✅️
✅️ Prohibit the use of "PA" ✅️
✅️ More support for DA victims ✅️

I agree once you've escaped domestic abuse the lack of help and support is astonishing.
Post separation is insidious and I believe very much overlooked.
When you're in family court you're out on your own while dealing with the abuse and when you have a court order which you struggle to deal with because of the abuse. There is no help for you
I have long been concerned about the prevalence of #DomesticAbuse in the #FamilyCourt & the lack of evidence on the scale of the issue.
I hope to change this with my Family Court Review & Reporting Mechanism, which launches in 2024. Find out more below⬇️

Domestic abuse impacts children in the home and significantly harms them. One parent being abused by another parent should make it immediately obvious that a child is not safe and contact should not occur. Abusers should not be considered good parents.

Domestic abuse is everyone's business. We must come together and play our part in tackling all forms of violence against women and girls.
With #DomesticAbuse counter allegations, the statement ‘both are as bad as each other’ is dangerous & puts victims at increased risk. Our new guidance & podcast unpacks how professionals can correctly identify who is the victim & who is the perpetrator.

'A victim fighting back or defending themselves means they abused each other & are both toxic.'
This is still one of the DV biggest myths.
In this article I explain why this isn't true, especially in cases where the abuser wants to dominate & control.

If the perpetrator is famous, add to this list 'use the media and employ PR professionals to create a smear campaign to make the public distrust, dislike and turn against the victim.'
