"Even the weekly TV Guide put his name in the crossword: 15 down, twenty letters, “Oscar overdose.” I added it to my pile." Philip Seymour Hoffman's sister, Emily Barr, reflects on modes of dealing with grief after her brother's death.

@StevenWMurray@FreddyLA7 A whole lot more than the terrain and architecture changes from Texas to Vermont. Having lived in both worlds - it often feels like a different country.
“Even now, when I watch Phil playing these parts in films that now capture a distant past, in roles that have become familiar to us, I can see so much of who he was.”

#worldAIDSday and I just found out a friend of mine, a young man living with HIV passed away. He was an advocate and researcher who was kind and gentle. We have made great strides and have so much work to do. #EndHIV@HoustonAETC@CizikNursing@TexasDCFAR

Excited to get this award to finish this study on lactation consultant knowledge and #breastfeeding with #HIV - Its wonderful to collaborate w/Dr. Abuogi, Dr. McKinney, and others! #EndHIVStigma@CizikNursing@COpedsID@TexasDCFAR @ANACnurses https://t.co/wQ52WxhqXc
Very proud of this work with @JaredCelniker and @nathanballan with @AnacJournalof read here about the importance of intellectual humility in building trust with clients making decisions about their health care, including #Vaccineconfidence
This poster presented at the #PEDSHIVworkshop in Germany last week. 📣Nationally, HIV Providers were less likely to talk about sensitive issues (substance use, sexual health, prep, and mental health) with youth on telehealth vs in-person. @TexasDCFAR@CizikNursing @ANACnurses
Here is my poster at #AIDS2024#IAS in Munich, Germany. We found, in Houston, TX, youth with HIV who were younger, had non-perinatally acquired HIV, and who used telehealth were more engaged in care (more consistent visits and viral loads). @TexasDCFAR @ANACnurses @CizikNursing
“We Hoffmans are not good at knowing how to stop. We know when to stop, we can tell the mood has shifted, but we always take things one step too far.”

Excited to have a poster at the International Pediatrics HIV Workshop in Munich, Germany this year! Sharing what HIV healthcare providers have to say about using telehealth to care for young people with HIV. #PEDSHIV#IAS2024#AdolescentHIV#EndHIVStigma@CizikNursing@TexasDCFAR
@DrMcCamey@AACNursing 2/2 and they went on to say “You should try the NINR” this wasn’t nursing research, but many people don’t see our work as scientific- or a STEM. It devalues us as PhD scientists. It’s a lot of work to constantly be fighting for legitimacy. Thanks for the discussion.
@DrMcCamey@AACNursing I have a lot to say. I can’t fit it in a tweet. But in a summary statement this week about a grant proposal that wasn’t funded - it said essentially “This is a nurse scientist and it’s not the right research for this mechanism.” The mechanism was the New Innovator Award for ESIs.
