The believer is not helpless; he has the divine capacity to resist. Self-control is the fruit of salvation.

Temptation exists because of desire, not because of the devil. Every human, including Jesus, had desires. Hebrews 4:15 shows Jesus was tempted in all points, yet without sin.

So, desire is not sin; misuse of desire is. This shows Christ's humanity and confirms that man is an agent of choice.
