I realized that the pandemic is starting to feel like it was a fever dream..I forgot we used plastic garbage bag gowns for PPE.. reused N95s (for several shifts) & that I would change into OR scrubs for fear of bringing COVID-19 home.. there were so many challenges I've forgotten
My name is Courtney and I am a pediatric emergency medicine PA (physician assistant).
โ My job in the pediatric emergency department revolves around evaluating and managing the care of and treating a variety of pediatric patients from low to high acuity and complexity.
I have to say- after multiple conferences this year I feel so much more prepared to submit a manuscript! (Thanks for including my thoughts here @HarrisonReedPA !)
PAs face many barriers to publication and our lack of visibility in the medical literature hurts the profession. Luckily, conferences (like @AAPAorg 2023) can help. I explain how in this @doximity article:

Thanks for having me @AAPAorg ! I enjoyed presenting our QI work on "Standardizing Sepsis Huddles To Improve Antibiotic Timeliness" and also talk about "Emergency Management of Pediatric Sepsis" over the past few days! #aapa2023
Last week I presented our QI work! I shared our poster at the @AcademicPeds QI Pre Conference & then presented an oral abstract at this year's @PASMeeting. Grateful for the opportunity, both conferences were amazing! Hugely thankful for those humans who helped make it happen โค๏ธ
Iโm excited to participate in @aapaorg#AAPA23, their national conference, in Nashville! I will be speaking about the future of healthcare to an audience of #PhysicianAssociates who go beyond for patients every day. Looking forward to it! #PAsGoBeyond
I got this in my email last week from @AAPAorg and couldn't be more proud of my profession.
When a professional conference holds its presenters accountable in effort to reduce structural racism in medicine, it's a step in the right direction.
Proud to say I found out today that I'll be giving an oral presentation at the Pediatric Academic Society conference in April this year! I'll be discussing our #qualityimprovement data showing how we improved antibiotic timeliness in pediatric sepsis ! #pas2023
@EmilyThatcherPA@AAPAorg Congratulations! ๐๐๐ I love to see PAs present research.. I will be on the lookout for your work! I'll be there and also presenting at RIA and a lecture too ๐
Seeing how much the world accepts that itโs impossible to move on after watching CPR really makes me think about how we (medical professionals, especially those who work in Emergency departments) are expected to just move on immediately after a code.
Thankful for an incredible and dedicated team- it's amazing what can happen when people from multiple disciplines get together to make our patients lives better โค๏ธ
@sailordeac Check LinkedIn- lots and LOTS of opportunities out there! I do have a couple webinars on nonclinical roles if you are interested (small fee helps me pay for the platform) https://t.co/EkC7I0l5bz
