1/2 Jason just told me this story he heard on a podcast that Justin Trudeau went to some break dancing school as a teen to help behavior problems and it really helped him, and I thought that was an awesome story. Troubled youth to breakdancing school to Canadian prime minister.

Tim Keller was important to my faith. My freshman roommate and I read his “Reason for God” book and I loved it so much. Jason & I read “The Meaning of Marriage” for our pre-marriage counseling and it had good advice for us. I’m sad he’s gone and I’m glad he existed.

@LikeYouOwnIt @CZEdwards @ask_aubry The teenager in this post has home nursing, which he’d only qualify for if he has nurse-level health needs. Once he’s an adult and has no assets, Medicaid would pay for him to be in a nursing institution. The older sister isn’t gonna wind up paying for his care.

@ask_aubry The other parent likely knows some of how to care, but since they work full time, they don’t need to and never learned all the hours of care (and it’s a 24/7 job).

@ask_aubry They become the 1&only expert on how to care for the fragile kid correctly, just out of necessity. No one wants to be the only expert on their kid but it is what it is.

@CZEdwards @ask_aubry And most home nurses for disabled kids we’ve encountered can’t show up on time, let alone give compassionate and correct care (assuming they get nursing through a state waiver).

@CZEdwards @ask_aubry Parents of severely disabled kids don’t expect their NT kids to take over caregiving one day. They know their disabled kid will likely end up in a nursing home, in the event they outlive their parent.
