Academy set the tone… Holy Names responded… Academy survived & outlasted. A quality HS basketball game 👏🏼

After trailing by as much as 18 in the 1st half, @AHN_Basketball got as close as 4 in the closing minutes, but a big score-stop-score sequence settled the storm & gave @AcademyGbball the room to close out an entertaining win. Run it back next month maybe? 💭

Down 11 at this point mid q2 - the largest margin of the game thus far - it felt like @AcademyGbball sorely needed this. Good BLOB action leads to @emthornton301 trey on the elevator 🎯 she’s given a big lift offensively, 11 at half.

Academy has success offensively when the ball sees both sides of the floor. Easier said than done against AQ, particularly with AJ Orr patrolling & jumping on reversals. She’s been pretty locked in and has a game high 15

@AcademyGbball got back within a possession after trailing by 13 in the 4th, but @AqLadyIrish built a cushion that was enough to last at the wire. @ajayaorr79 went for 20, @LorenMissyGreen 19 in the win. @emthornton301 gave Academy a lift with a game high 22 in defeat.

Same thing, other side of the floor, this one off the right hand of @WbbMercy bound @emthornton301 🎯 she hit a couple of these in the 2nd & has 6 in a very balanced @AcademyGbball effort.

All-in-all, Columbia has to feel alright about being within 1 at half. Really not their best 16 and thought they showed offensive frustration with some lower shot quality in the 2nd. They did get to the line & convert though, 8/8 in q2, which keeps it even despite only 1 made FG in the frame
