It took well into the 2nd half for Academy to find comfortable separation against a scrappy AP team, but ‘find it’ they did. A 14-2 stretch spanning parts of q3 & q4 broke open a single digit contest in the first of 2 girls’ games today at Siena.

@alexleonard54 led all scorers with 16 including her 1000th point, @vien_morgan added 12 in the win. Eight players scored for AP paced by three with 5 each.

After two straight section championships in Class B, @AcademyGbball didn't skip a beat this season in Class A.

The Bears claimed their third straight title this afternoon with a 65-43 win over Broadalbin-Perth.

On, maybe I jinxed it? We’re still pretty cold in general, but especially Academy. Several missed chippies, 2/8 from the line in the half, likely below 20% from the field. With that said, this one felt huge just to see the ball go in late in the half. @vien_morgan 🎯 from @alexleonard54 ⬇️

And this will be a very interesting next few minutes for Academy. They’ve been down at half & played in close games numerous times this year, but it’s been against the Shakers, Columbias, and AQs of the world. Punching up in weight class. Against AHN, a fellow A they’ve beat twice this season? Kind of a different deal

Even as the wire-to-wire leader thus far, this one felt relatively big for @AcademyGbball. Bit of an offensive lull in the 3rd & AHN had it within 7 - @vien_morgan dials it up to bring it back to double digits ⬇️

But far better q3 for @AHN_Basketball and it starts with transition defense. Make every Bear offensive possession have to be played 5v5 in the half-court. Not a great job with that in the first 16; can only think of two times they had any chance to run in the 3rd
