I did not view the entire interview, so forgive me if you are answering the questions I raise here in the rest of the interview.

Firstly, my comment here is not in defence of those who have dabbled in the fruitless embracing of the descriptions of Jesus’ appearance. I agree with your claim that the depictions are not a result of fact but of fiction.

What is clear though, is that your knowledge of the entire Biblical text led you to the conclusion that the ‘Bible has no descriptions of Jesus’ appearance’. It is an absolute statement of a truth after having carefully studied the entire biblical text.

Is this a reasonable conclusion?

I consider that the true test of a serious reader of the biblical text, or any ancient text for that matter, is how faithfully he or she extrapolates the author’s intention from the text. This is hard work, just like the kind of hard work you ask of readers of your post when you suggest that, ‘If you want truth you need to invest a lot in getting it’. Hard intellectual and spiritual spadework is more likely to result in a closer proximity to that which is true.

I would like, therefore, to know if you would be willing to apply this diligence to the entire biblical text and if you would be open to read about the deeply relevant life truths from the life of Jesus. Would you be willing?

Also, is it fair of me to believe that you consider the biblical text as a reliable source of truth?

Would it be a reasonable to expect from you that since you used the biblical text to prove your point in this matter that you would use it also to search for truth in other matters, that are more important than external facial depictions?

There is a distinct possibility that this incongruence you identify is partly connected to the unfortunate habit of selective congruence amongst Evangelical preachers. The passage you quoted from Isaiah 58 is a perfect example. Too often the injustice and in equity are not mentioned when explaining the emptiness of words.
