I gave my heart in its purest form, never holding back, never keeping score. I loved with open hands, believing that effort and sincerity would always be enough. I stayed, I listened, I tried again even when I was tired, even when I felt unseen.
But somewhere along the way, my best became invisible, as if love was measured by something I could never reach. Now I find myself choosing quiet over disappointment, solitude over explaining my worth.
Maybe being alone is not a failure, but a pause to breathe, to heal, to remember who I was before I poured myself empty. If love returns to me one day, it will have to meet me whole, not begging, not shrinking, but finally at peace with myself.
Let them be unhappy.
You are not responsible for anyone’s happiness.
No matter how much love you give, how much effort you pour into someone else’s life, some people will remain angry, bitter, or dissatisfied. Their discontent is theirs to carry, not yours. Your heart is not a lifeboat for everyone else’s storms, and your peace should NEVER be collateral damage.
Stop bending yourself to make someone else comfortable. Stop shrinking to soften their edges. Your energy, your joy, your sanity are not negotiable. Let them face the consequences of their choices. Let them wrestle with their own darkness. Let them sit with the storm they refuse to navigate with care.
Loving yourself doesn’t mean you’re selfish; it means you are brave enough to protect your own light. It means you refuse to carry weight that was never yours to bear. Let them be unhappy. Let yourself be free. Let your peace bloom in the space they could not fill.
Because at the end of the day, your happiness is yours. Your heart is yours. And your life is too precious to be spent carrying someone else’s misery.
