The last time I saw my mother was almost 8 months ago. I decided to stay in the north to keep covering the news while my family evacuated to the south , we thought this would only last a few weeks . My mother left a 21-year-old eager to be a journalist, full of life. Little did I know that in those eight months, I would age 100 years. I would not only be covering the news but also digging mass graves, picking up decomposed bodies off the streets, going through starvation, and trying to console parents over their dead kids. Every day is a hunt for survival; I'm not who I was 8 months ago, and I will never be the same.
Good morning from the team at the Co-production Workshop at the University of Leeds and from BNCA in India. Looking forward to an informative and engaging session!

BATTERY OVERSUPPLY
A while ago the media was overflowing with pundits complaining battery production would be unable to keep up with growing demand (hence e.g. @Toyota's claim we should use hybrids with small batteries).
Now we will see complaints about battery overproduction.
IMPORTANT: Denied entry to #India for speaking on democratic & constitutional values. I was invited to a conference as esteemed delegate by Govt of #Karnataka (Congress-ruled state) but Centre refused me entry. All my documents were valid & current (UK passport & OCI). THREAD 1/n
#ClimateAction at the cost of secularism, democracy, pluralism. Note the QTs hailing this move by Indian PM while invoking a Hindu god and holding a saffron shawl.
A green India will be powered by a saffron India-a violent, majoritarian political force. But hey it's apolitical!

No one gains when globally and nationally well regarded institutions are targeted and destroyed. We all collectively lose. India loses research capacity. Very sad about this. In solidarity with my home institution.

Looking forward to continuing our work on sustainable cooling in India through this network in Pune, thanks to funding from @HorizonsLeeds https://t.co/MRdRSgTSyC . More info on this coming in 2024! @enaba
Some developing countries think the new #COP28#GlobalStocktake text is decent, but for a reason that REALLY highlights that the failure of developed countries to deliver climate finance underpins almost all the struggles and difficulties we have in this process. (1/6)
This would preclude many very talented academics. I first started at £28k and many post-doctoral positions are still no more than £31k. This could encourage universities to raise the academic salaries in response to this, but it is unlikely to happen. What is likely to happen is that universities are going to become even less diverse in thought and practice & miss out on excellent researchers. It is such short-sightedness.
We are up and running! Excited to announce the first session of a seminar series targeted at students but open to all on Situating Palestine, organized by a group of academics across different disciplines at @Radboud_Uni
Air to Air heat pumps have seen a lot of technological advancement.
I'm not sure it's common knowledge.
As a result, we also probably don't adequately reflect how efficiently they cool today, and their potential role in space-heating.
