It’s harvest season now. I don’t know if you know this, but Ukrainians traditionally make a Didukh from the last sheaves of the harvest.

Didukh is much more than a beautiful decoration. It is one of Ukraine’s oldest symbols, representing prosperity, abundance, gratitude for the harvest, and the memory of our ancestors.
It is kept until Christmas and ceremonially brought into the home on Christmas Eve as a symbol of life, hard work, and the connection between generations🇺🇦

I remember the day ~27 years ago when I first learned that inhalation experiments—where beagles are violently forced breathe toxic gas through masks like this—were a real thing.

I thought it was science fiction.

These were the same dogs who wake us up with licks to the face. The same pups who beg us for hugs even when we're disheveled, stinky, or just an emotional wreck. The same dogs who are so happy to see us, when we've been gone a couple hours, that they jump up and down or cry when we get back home.

The same pups who will die, thrashing in agony, because of a sick and often illegal experiment.

I didn't believe it was real.

But it is more than real. It's happening to thousands of dogs. And the nation's biggest provisioner of this torture is just a short distance from the nation's biggest city: Marshall BioResources in New York.

My friend @AndyMasley just posted that the more you read about animal abuse, the more it just starts to make you feel crazy. He's right. But there's a way out of that madness.

It's rescue. We have to get these poor pups out. And here is the thing:

I do not understand how any Senate Republican could confirm Todd Blanche as Attorney General. Blanche's corruption makes John Mitchell look like a choirboy.

It was against Blanche that a federal judge ruled an unconstitutionally vindictive prosecution was carried out against Kilmar Abrego Garcia; it was Blanche who sought a new indictment against New York Attorney General Letitia James after a federal judge completely dismissed by a federal judge, only to have a grand jury refuse to re-indict Letitia James; it is Blanche who is pursuing a frivolous, vindictive prosecution of James Comey over a photo of seashells spelling "8647;" it is Blanche who has stonewalled full compliance with the bipartisan Epstein Files Transparency Act, prioritizing protection of a pedophile president over transparency; it is Blanche who obstructed the independent investigation of the cold-blooded murder of Alex Pretti and Renee Good; it is Blanche who was referred in terms of his conduct to a disciplinary board.

If Blanche never sees the inside of a prison cell, it will not be for lack of cause. It'll be because Argentina refuses to extradite him.

A man kicked his dog until he died. It happened in broad daylight in Palestrina, Lazio, in front of people who could hardly believe what they were witnessing. The dog was beaten until he had nothing left. A passerby stepped in and rushed him to an emergency vet, but the dog didn't survive.

After calls from the crowd, the Carabinieri intervened, identifying and reporting a 56 year old man and opening a full investigation. He now faces up to four years in prison and a €60,000 fine. But is that really enough? How can anyone direct this kind of violence at an animal that depends on us?

Animals are not property. They are not punching bags for human rage. They are living, breathing souls. And this time, a precious life was shattered in the most brutal way possible.

Let's make our voices heard.
Let's talk about it.
Because silence makes us accomplices.

The vehicle, marked with a Red Cross, in which Halytska and other medics were traveling to provide aid to wounded, came under fire from the occupying forces. Three medics were wounded; Sabina Halytska did not survive the attack.💔

It's happening all the time: Russian attacks on vehicles marked with the Red Cross.!!

The Czech Republic also lost a medic who was saving the wounded.💔

Head Start has helped over 30 million kids since 1965. It was built to give poor children a fair shot before kindergarten. Now the Trump administration wants to gut the standards that make it work, while calling it “cutting red tape.”

They want to strip away the help that lets a struggling parent get their kid to a doctor, spot a learning delay early, and show up to school ready to learn.

The cruelty is aimed at the children least able to absorb it.

This is morally reprehensible.

This was filmed yesterday at Second Chance Animal Shelter. The veteran is David. The dog is Scout, a four-year-old Border Collie. Eleven months ago, David lost his housing and had to surrender Scout. It destroyed him. Last month, David got into a transitional housing program specifically for veterans.
First thing he did? Started searching. He called, visited, and emailed 52 different shelters across three counties. Found Scout listed online two days ago at Second Chance. When David walked in yesterday with his case worker, Scout froze. Completely still.
For a full ten seconds. Like his brain couldn't process that David was real. Then Scout started spinning.
Frantic circles. Crying. High-pitched whines. Then he launched himself at David. Wrapped his paws around David's neck and wouldn't let go. Both of them collapsed. Scout was shaking so hard. David was sobbing. Staff gave them thirty minutes alone in the room. Scout never stopped shaking. Never unwrapped from David's neck. David told us: "| promised him I'd come back. I promised." Sometimes eleven months feels like forever. But a promise kept is worth the wait.
