Great to see momentum on this.
Please be mindful though that UniSuper has a history of dodging calls for divestment. See: https://t.co/9NL9gLAAC7
Be sure to call for UniSuper itself to be explicit about permanently excluding Elbit and other complicit companies.
Just spent time talking to @UniSuperNews - who are taking many calls from members about this. They confirmed to me that they are receiving a number of complaints and also confirmed that this concern about 'pedalling death' (his quote of what others have said) has been raised.
@RainEden2@MattH093@gedkearney Kearney being 'good on refugees' before becoming an MP is a myth. She was bad before then as well. The myth was perpetuated by her regular platforming at protest events. https://t.co/WfllNdA3Uk
Ged Kearney was president of the ACTU when they declared detention centre financing a good return on investment, against demands from divestment campaigners.
For years Kearney earned thousands as director of a superfund that invests in detention centres.

The decision to ram draconian, anti-refugee laws through Parliament will be Anthony Albanese’s Tampa moment.
Labor has capitulated in the face of a right wing fear campaign and will enact harsh, punitive measures against refugees.
Great to see momentum on this.

Don't let them get away with it this time.
Sometimes the best politics is none at all.
Last night I caught up with Bob Katter for dinner and a chat about life and politics.
Thanks for your insight and for dinner Bob.
Kearney would give speeches at rallies in support of refugees at the same time that the organisation that she was president was actively defending the financial stability of detention contractors against divestment campaigns.
The point is well made re Thorpe and the Greens, but Kearney's decision to run for the ALP was consistent with ACTU support for the detention industry under her leadership. The idea that Kearney is 'good' on refugees has always been a myth, even before her run for parliament.
Here's a xenophobic article from India that uses a racist image produced by @AustralianLabor in 2013 to make its point. ALP policy on asylum seekers has only gotten worse since then.
Quick reminder: in 2015 the ACTU, under the leadership of @gedkearney, defended detention financing via industry superfunds against calls for divestment. #shame
A reminder that @KKeneally and @AustralianLabor are running a racist campaign against migrant workers that deliberately ignores years of protest and demands. https://t.co/DWGxI4icPN
Keneally's rhetoric is that of the racist far-right, not the actual movement of workers.
'People smuggling' is a response to state restrictions on free and safe movement. Turnbacks and camps aren't 'difficult but necessary', they are a racist response to the consequences of racist border policy.
Offshore processing is horrible.
Also,
People smuggling and dying in their hundreds at sea is horrible.
Nothing progressive about both options, and no one gets the moral high ground.

The ALP have been at forefront of implementing border policy that is the envy of fascist around the world. Nothing about this has changed under Albanese's leadership, nor is it likely to. Things have gotten worse, not by accident but as strategy.
