@yellowrosey3 Using rosary beads in place of other fidgeting tools is extra calming. You'll get a lot more prayer in if you pray while walking or driving and when you're in the shower. Also set a rule of never allowing yourself to avoid looking at the crucifix after sin.

Some evangelicals have told me that if Mary didn't have sex with her husband, that would be a sin.

The assumption is that St. Joseph wanted sex with her, so she would be denying a marital obligation by saying "no".

Why do they think St. Joseph wanted sex?

"Because St. Joseph is a man and all men want sex—duh. No man in his right mind would say 'no' to sex."

The problem is that modern Christians, who are a product of modern, secularized times, have been so deeply wounded by the sexualized propaganda of this age that it feels near impossible for them to imagine the idea of a man GLADLY wanting to avoid sex.

What you need is healing.

We have all been wounded by our culture, and until you receive healing in the innermost places that you've been wounded, your understanding of reality will continue to be warped.
