How to end stigma?
— TALK ABOUT IT: Talk about your experience. Discuss it openly. A mental illness is just like any other medical condition.
— EDUCATE: Educate yourself and those around you. Learn about it, and then speak about it. Stand up, use your voice, END THE STIGMA! +
— MENTAL ILLNESS AND PHYSICAL ILLNESS: A mental illness is just like a physical one, so IT SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME WAY! END THE STIGMA!
— SHOW COMPASSION: ALWAYS be there for someone suffering with a mental illness, never leave their side.
It doesn’t let them get the help that they need. This is the power of stigma. Although stigma has reduced in the recent years, we still have a long way to go! We need to educate ourselves, stand up and END THE STIGMA!
Stigma involves discrimination or negative attitude against someone with a distinguishing character like mental illness. Unfortunately, there is a lot of stigma surrounding mental health. It makes people feel ashamed of something that is OUT OF THEIR CONTROL.
