Earlier today, I joined the annual special prayer held at the National Mosque in Abuja in honour of the late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, OON, MFR, beloved mother of our dear President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The solemn gathering which was organized by the Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alh. Ibrahim Kabir Masari brought together the Vice President, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, alongside other distinguished personalities from across the nation.
It was a deeply reflective occasion dedicated to prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul and a moment to celebrate a life distinguished by service, leadership, and enduring commitment to societal advancement. Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji’s remarkable contributions to community development and national progress remain a source of inspiration to many. The gathering also served as a poignant reminder of the values of unity, shared purpose, and collective prayers for the continued peace, prosperity, and advancement of our dear nation.

Three Years of Transforming Transportation in Kaduna State!
Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani CON, Kaduna State is witnessing a massive revolution in its mobility landscape. With a monumental investment of N56B into 11 major projects, this administration is delivering a modern, inclusive, and sustainable transport system that has already created over 14,200 new jobs!
Key Highlights of the Journey:
Kaduna Bus Rapid Transit (KBRT): A pioneering project and Northern Nigeria's first, featuring a 24km corridor, 100 new CNG/Hybrid buses, and free rides for students, workers, and retirees.
Infrastructure Upgrades: Development of the Southern Bus Terminal (Kakuri), Eastern Motor Park, and the groundbreaking of Sobawa Motor Park to ease urban congestion.
Kaduna Light Rail: A ~50km network connecting Rigachikun, Sabon Tasha, Millennium City, and Rigasa.
Regulatory Reforms: Setting the pace as Northern Nigeria's only state to gazette a Commercial Transport Regulations Rulebook, introduce e-ticketing, and clear long-standing franchise debts.
We congratulate the Executive Governor on these historic milestones. The future of movement in Kaduna is green, digital, and efficient!
It was both an honour and a solemn responsibility to chair and deliver the keynote at the Vision Alignment Workshop for senior officials of the Kaduna State Government, convened by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations. At a time when public confidence in institutions is neither automatic nor assured, such a forum speaks to a deeper imperative: that governance must be anchored not only in vision, but in disciplined alignment, strategic communication, and an unambiguous commitment to truth. For it is through clarity of purpose and coherence of action that governments earn legitimacy, sustain trust, and deliver enduring value to the people they serve.
Since May 2023, Kaduna State has pursued a deliberate path from aspiration to measurable progress, anchored on seven strategic pillars: security, infrastructure, institutional reform, trade and investment, agriculture, human capital development, and citizen engagement. These are not abstract commitments, but living priorities translated into tangible outcomes.
In security, we have strengthened operational capacity through the establishment of new military bases, deployment of over 300 vehicles and 1000 motorcycles, and the reclamation of over 500,000 hectares of farmland. Thousands of our citizens have been resettled, while sustained support continues for other internally displaced persons.
Our investments in education and healthcare reflect a similar resolve. We have expanded and rehabilitated school infrastructure, recruited and trained thousands of educators, significantly reduced the number of out-of-school children, and eased the financial burden on families. In the health sector, upgraded primary care facilities, specialised centres, and a new 300-bed hospital now ensure the consistent availability of essential medicines.
Under our infrastructure development agenda, we have extended road construction to 12 local governments that had previously not benefited one kilometer of completed road project. This is amongst the 150 road projects we have initiated totaling over 1335KM across the state. At the same time, agricultural expansion is advancing steadily. We are also making meaningful progress in financial inclusion, while social protection programs have expanded in parallel. These efforts are supported by substantial increases in public funding, growing investment inflows, and more targeted support to citizens through payment of gratuities and death benefits.
Ultimately, governance must justify itself through outcomes that are visible, dependable, and transformative. Kaduna is not where it once was. It stands today on firmer ground; steadily advancing, and resolutely positioned for even greater strides ahead.

“UBA SANI AND THE NORTH WEST’s ELECTRICITY RENAISSANCE” By Ali Usman
At a time when Nigeria’s electricity discourse is too often defined by deficits, disruptions, and deferred hopes, a new and quietly transformative narrative is taking root in the North-West. It is a narrative shaped not by lamentation, but by leadership; not by dependence, but by design. At its centre stands Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State, whose emerging stewardship of subnational energy reform is fast redefining both the possibilities and the pathways for sustainable electricity supply in Nigeria.
For decades, the North-West; comprising Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States within the Kaduna Electric franchise, has borne the weight of an energy system stretched beyond its limits. The national grid, long the singular conduit of electricity supply, has struggled to meet the demands of a region marked by vast geography, dispersed populations, and rising industrial aspirations. In this context, Kaduna Electric, the Distribution Company serving the zone, has operated under immense strain; tasked with delivering power across a complex network while contending with upstream constraints, aging infrastructure, and systemic inefficiencies.
Yet history, however burdensome, does not dictate destiny. The passage of the Electricity Act 2023 has altered the architecture of Nigeria’s power sector in ways both profound and practical. By devolving authority to the states; granting them the power to generate, transmit, distribute, and regulate electricity within their jurisdictions, the Act has opened a new frontier of possibility. It has, in effect, shifted the locus of responsibility from the centre to the periphery, inviting states to become active architects of their own energy futures.
Gov. Uba Sani has embraced this invitation with uncommon clarity and resolve. His participation in the Kaduna Electric Franchise Area Energy & Investment Summit in London on April 1 was not merely symbolic; it was strategic. Convened under the theme “Driving Energy Investment and Regional Development,” the summit brought together a constellation of stakeholders: investors, development partners, and sector experts, at a moment when Nigeria’s electricity reform must transition from aspiration to execution.
Alongside Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara and Gov Nasiru Idris of Kebbi, as well as the Deputy Governor of Sokoto, Idris Muhammad Gobir, Governor Sani articulated a vision that is at once regional and pragmatic. Energy security, he argued, must no longer be conceived as a fragmented pursuit, but as a coordinated enterprise. The states within the Kaduna Electric franchise are bound not only by shared infrastructure, but by intertwined economic destinies. Their industries, markets, and communities are interconnected; their energy futures must be as well.
This emphasis on regional coherence is perhaps the most compelling feature of the current reform effort. For too long, electricity policy in Nigeria has been shaped by centralised assumptions that overlook local realities. The result has been a system that is simultaneously overstretched and underperforming. By contrast, the emerging model in the North-West recognises that effective electricity markets must be grounded in context: responsive to local demand patterns, aligned with regional economic priorities, and structured to attract investment at scale.
Central to this effort is the revitalisation of Kaduna Electric itself. As the primary distribution interface between the grid and end users, the company occupies a pivotal position in the electricity value chain. Its franchise spans major urban centres such as Kaduna, Zaria, Sokoto, and Gusau, as well as rural communities where access remains uneven. The challenges it faces; technical losses, metering deficits, and revenue constraints, are emblematic of broader sectoral issues. Yet they also represent opportunities for targeted intervention and transformation.

PUBLIC NOTICE: SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF N72,000 NEW MINIMUM WAGE AND INCREMENTAL ADJUSTMENTS IN KADUNA STATE.
Kaduna is one of the first State to have implemented the new minimum wage. The Office of the Accountant General, Kaduna State, is pleased to inform you, the public, and all state workers that this wage, along with incremental adjustments based on grade levels, was successfully implemented across all cadres in the state’s payroll, in full compliance with the directives.
The Office firmly debunks any claims suggesting non-compliance with the new minimum wage. Such allegations are entirely false and misleading. In cases where an employee’s net salary appeared below N72,000, it was solely due to voluntary deductions, such as loan repayments consented to by the individual. The Office maintains verifiable records of these deductions.
The Office is actively engaged in constructive discussions with Labour Unions, who have put forward certain recommendations. Our Labour-Friendly Governor, is carefully considering these recommendations which is Discretionary.
The Office of the Accountant General remains committed to maintaining a fair, transparent, and equitable salary structure for all employees of Kaduna State.
For further inquiries or clarifications, please contact the Office of the Accountant General, kaduna state.
