I don't have time to review the code myself. That others do and could get paid for improvements was a key security principle of the system.

As an aside, I'm totally in favor of getting rid of the current FAA regulatory framework. The boeing disaster proves it doesn't work.

You dont need a PE to build an airplane because they're regulated by the FAA.
You would need a PE to program traffic lights because they are in the jurisdiction of the states to govern, and states use PE.
