Since the day EPRA reviewed fuel prices upwards, I have spent my time researching the current retail prices of petrol and diesel across different countries.
Look at these figures.
~Ukraine: KSh 233 per litre
~Russia: KSh 171 per litre
~Rwanda: KSh 250 per litre
~Zimbabwe: KSh 242 per litre
~Tanzania: KSh 223 per litre
~Uganda: KSh 227 per litre
You see, fuel price fluctuations are not unique to Kenya. They are a global problem.
Even countries that produce oil are not completely shielded from changes in global oil prices. The cost of crude oil, refining, transportation, insurance and distribution all affect the final price at the pump.
Kenya is not an island. We operate in a global market, and international developments inevitably affect what we pay for fuel.
Let's have an honest conversation about fuel prices. We can hold our government accountable while also acknowledging that global market forces play a major role in determining the prices we pay.
The challenge is global, and no country is completely immune to it.
Kenyans have called out a local man who refused to let go of a KMTC student’s hand after she offered a handshake, with many viewers terming his actions harassment.
