However, Hanson does not believe that the handshake has gone forever. Believes it will come back once a vaccine is created but we will probably need to sanitise our hands afterwards (Hanson warns don’t do this in front of the person whose hands you have shook!) #HelloPostCovid

Instead, Hanson believes the “Namaste” 🙏 will be become the de facto greeting going forward - it allows mutual recognition & gives enough time to show one is initiating a non-contact greeting, allowing the other person to reciprocate #HelloPostCovid

So how will we greet one another in the future? @williamhanson does not believe bowing/curtsying, the Wuhan Touch (touching feet) or the Elbow Touch will not take on - either goes against social norms, or is impractical with social distancing #HelloPostCovid

Hanson also notes that #SocialDistancing is not new - before antibiotics, people would keep greater distances from one another in order to avoid infections #HelloPostCovid

In the Middle Ages, kissing was a standard greeting, with social ranking distinguished by where on the body one kissed another person. Was even used to seal contracts. In 1600s this fell out of fashion due to pandemics such as The Great Plague #HelloPostCovid

Moving on to social #kissing💋, Hanson says that this is often reserved for closer social relationships with the “lip kiss” used for for intimate relationships. Hanson believes intimate kissing originates in Ancient India, spreading to Europe circa 300bc #HelloPostCovid

Starting with the #handshake🤝, host @williamhanson says that there is evidence that there is evidence that even cavemen used this as a form of greeting, but in Ancient Greece & Rome this became a formal greeting, used as a token of peace & mutual trust #HelloPostCovid
