Today is #EarthOvershootDay, which marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that year.
Let us adopt sustainable practices and support public policies that enable nature to regenerate and ensure the well-being of future generations.

A little organic matter goes a long way!
Even a minor 0.4% annual increase in soil carbon could compound into significantly higher grain harvests year after year.
By embracing sustainable techniques that nourish the soil, crops will thrive and carrot-lovers everywhere will have plenty to cheer about!

Traditional crop varieties are good for human health & soil health- the innumerable soil micro-organisms that make it possible for us to grow crops. Wonderful that more and more farmers are reviving traditional rice varieties profitably & offering healthier dietary choices for the community. Congratulations to all farmers and everyone working to restore the richness of Bharat’s traditional food systems. -Sg #SaveSoil

When the radish crops are harvested, the radish and roots leave large, open pores in the soil. This increases soil aeration and water infiltration. Along with this comes more earthworm and microbial activity.
It’s clear that a tillage radish cover crop certainly lives up to that name. As it turns out, the simple radish can be quite a complex tool when properly utilized.

If you thought that fungi can’t move, you thought wrong!
Zoospores are a unique type of soil fungi, as they are the only fungi with spores that can move. They have a long tail like a tadpole which they use to 'swim' through the soil. These little guys are small (<0.1 mm) and they hunt and eat nematodes - small, parasitic worms - so they are good at reducing soil pathogens and keeping crops productive.
