JUST IN: Zcash's Ironwood upgrade goes live TOMORROW and could expose hidden fake $ZEC.
The upgrade, expected to go live on July 28 (13:00 UTC), could reveal whether a bug in its private Orchard pool was ever used to create fake ZEC.
As users move their ZEC to the new pool, every coin leaving the old pool will be counted.
If the total is higher than what was ever deposited, it could expose counterfeit ZEC.

🚨JUST IN: $1.7 TRILLION Franklin Templeton officially backs the CLARITY Act.
The firm says "it's time to provide the industry the clarity it needs."
The Senate has less than two weeks to pass the bill before the August recess.
"If you're in crypto, pivot to AI."
I used to hear versions of this, and it's the wrong way to think about the world. It's zero sum, scarcity thinking.
Crypto is a general purpose technology. It's infrastructure, the same way electricity or the internet is infrastructure. It doesn't compete with the next big thing, because it underpins it. It's an *and*, not an *or*.
AI being a megatrend takes nothing away from crypto. If anything, it makes crypto more important.
AI agents will need their own financial infrastructure and will eventually transact far more per day than all humans combined. They can't open a bank account, they can't wait three days for a wire, they reside in one country. They need real time programmable money (and that's crypto).
Agents will need to hold funds and pay for things on their own. We pioneered this with the x402 protocol, Base, and USDC, which now power the vast majority of all agentic payments. Agents will also engage in trading and act as a financial advisor. They will raise or borrow money for new projects they are undertaking. They will eliminate tasks for us around tax planning, portfolio rebalancing, and bill pay.
Welcome to the world of Agentic Finance (AiFi). This is what Coinbase is building.

Elon Musk: "I'll make another prediction, money won't matter in 2036."
Musk says when robots and AI are providing more goods and services than any human could possibly consume, money becomes meaningless.
"You want money for food, housing, transport, entertainment. If that is so abundant, what do you need money for in that case?"

🚨 NEXT WEEK'S VOLATILITY COULD BE SOMETHING WE SAW DURING THE TARIFF CRASH.
4 major things will happen together, and most people aren't paying attention to it.
1) Tariffs' reaction
Yesterday, the US announced its latest wave of permanent Section 301 tariffs, setting rates of 10% to 12.5% on 60 trading partners.
This happened around market close, so there wasn't much reaction.
But the same won't happen next week.
Other countries could retaliate, and the stock market could feel the tariffs' heat again.
2) US-Iran war
The US and Iran war has almost returned to March 2026 levels.
Few oil tankers are passing through Strait, and oil prices are rising.
When this happened last time, the stock market dropped 10% in a few weeks.
3) FOMC meeting
On Wednesday, FOMC meeting will happen.
Since the last FOMC meeting, CPI and PPI have dropped, but oil prices are going up again.
This means inflation risk is back, and the Fed can't ignore this.
Any hawkishness in the Fed dot plot, and everything will nuke.
4) BOJ meeting
This one is even more important than the FOMC.
Yen is at its weakest level in 40 years, and Japanese bond yields are surging on inflation fears.
Any hint of aggressive rate hikes or intervention from the BOJ could pump the yen, causing a massive carry trade unwind.
Remember August 2024?
The next unwind could be even more brutal.
Who is opposing the CLARITY Act?
At least 15 U.S. senators have either voted against it, publicly opposed it, or said they cannot support the current version.
9 voted against it in the Senate Banking Committee, while 6 more have since publicly withheld support for the current text.
Senate opposition remains strong.
JUST IN: Trump's $1.4 BILLION in crypto earnings is complicating CLARITY Act negotiations.
Senate Majority Leader Thune says he no longer expects the bill to pass before the August recess.
Polymarket odds of the CLARITY Act passing this year have dropped to roughly 1 in 3.

🇺🇸Sec. of State Marco Rubio: "Iran could be the richest country in the Middle East if they trust the United States."
Abbas Araghchi: "Look how prosperous Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq became after they trusted the United States."
