I am visiting Burundi and Tanzania where I met some refugees fleeing Eastern DRC. Their stories of murder and rape by armed men are revolting: innocent civilians including children left facing horrifying abuse while leaders consistently fail to resolve regional conflicts. Enough.

We must pursue durable solutions for Burundian refugees, especially voluntary repatriation. In Burundi, I met some of the more than 200,000 who have returned since 2017. We will work with the government, host countries and partners to ensure that returns are safe and sustainable.
