I have noticed a trend with men. When a man does something terrible to a woman, they rarely care about the repercussions of his actions on the woman. They don't care about how it affects her life, her mental health, her future, or the trauma she has to live with.

Instead, the conversation is always about the man.

"Why would he do that to himself?"

"Why would he risk his future?"

"Why didn't he think before doing that?"

Not because of what he did to a woman, or the harm he caused her, but because of what it might cost him.

The Odogwu Asaba case is a perfect example. A young woman lost her life after being raped, and instead of focusing on the fact that a woman had been harmed, traumatized, and ultimately died, so many people were more concerned about how he had ruined his own life. Some even reduced the entire conversation to whether the girl was pretty enough, as if that was the tragedy.

It's always jarring to watch because it reveals how little empathy many people have for women, especially men. A woman can lose her peace, her dignity, her future, or even her life, and somehow the concern is still centered on the man and what he stands to lose.

Men genuinely do not care about women at all. They don't care about what happened to us women. They only care that a man might finally face the consequences of what he did.

Strengthening Development Through Partnership

Yesterday, I met with the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Egloff, and we had a productive and engaging discussion on our country’s developmental journey, with particular emphasis on the critical sectors that drive development: education, healthcare, and lifting people out of poverty.

I expressed my gratitude for the invaluable contributions of the Swiss Confederation to Nigeria’s development, especially its support for critical economic, cultural, humanitarian, and peace-building initiatives, particularly in the North-East.

Her name is Omowunmi, and she’s only 25 years old.

She got pregnant, and a few months into her pregnancy, a large dark mark suddenly appeared on her back.

At first, everyone thought it was just pregnancy-induced eczema, so it wasn't taken too seriously.

But instead of disappearing, it kept getting WORSE.

Even after she gave birth, her condition continued to deteriorate until she had to be rushed back to the hospital for proper medical attention.

After several tests, Omowunmi was diagnosed with LUPUS — an autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues.

Sadly, tragedy struck again. 💔

Omowunmi lost her baby at just 1 month and 10 days old.

According to her account, the baby's death was linked to complications associated with lupus.

May the little baby's soul rest in peace. 🕊️

Unfortunately, lupus currently has no cure, but with proper treatment and medical management, its symptoms and complications can often be controlled.

The disease can affect different parts of the body, including the skin, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs and other organs.
