Die #Neutralität ist genauso zentraler Teil der schweizerischen DNA wie der bewährte #Föderalismus oder unsere direkte #Demokratie. Es ist zentral, zu Bewährtem Sorge zu tragen. Die schweizerische Neutralität ist erfolgreich, weil wir sie nicht in ein enges #Verfassungskorsett zwingen, sondern dem Bundesrat und dem Parlament die #Flexibilität belassen mit Blick für den Einzelfall zu entscheiden und zu handeln.
Trotz unserer Neutralität muss es weiterhin möglich sein, mit unseren Nachbarn sicherheitspolitische Informationen auszutauschen, gemeinsam Rüstungsgüter zu beschaffen oder Übungen mit der NATO durchzuführen; ebenso braucht unser Land die Flexibilität, Sanktionen gegen kriegsführende Aggressoren mitzutragen oder darauf zu verzichten.

Whether Putin dares to test Europe’s defences depends on us.

Today, EU Defence Ministers are meeting to discuss how to make use of the €90 billion loan for Ukraine, as well as defence industry cooperation between the EU and Ukraine.

Together with industry, we will focus on ramping up defence production. The funding is there. Now it is time to turn investment into capabilities — faster and cheaper.

At the @EUDefenceAgency Steering Board, we will decide on strengthening the agency, with a greater focus on innovation and experimentation.
