@allenholub What do you think about Scrum 'pillars' - transparency, adaptation and inspection? Would you say that going by those values (without any Scrum stuff you mentioned) is an agile direction?
Resistance against divisive statements, arguments or narration improves your life by *a lot*. Especially needed in times of massive misinformation campaigns.
@Spammiejj Good luck man, as a 'recovering perfectionist' I found it so rewarding to make a move first and adjust afterwards. Being stuck with 100s of ideas is more exhausting that choosing one and improving it day by day
@allenholub I agree with most of those quotes except the first one, just because of my anecdotal argument. I am in a - I believe - agile team that measures those but doesn't 'manage' it. Tbh we use it mainly to trigger discussions about stuff that matters - impediments, customer vlaue etc.
@allenholub Does it mean it's all useless though? Don't think there's anything wrong with measuring those, but it's important to understand it's not what eventually matters.
@paw_lean I try to avoid giving advice on such topics online, as it's very individual and preferably something to work with a therapist. I made an exception, because it looks like we're in similar situations, but we might be not. Either way, good luck and keep figuring it out!
@paw_lean If there's any advice I could give, it's that to try to accept it as a part of your personality and not 'a problem'. In my case, I realised that this trait helped me *a lot* over the years, and it's not about squashing it down, but giving that 'chillout guy' a space as well.
@paw_lean Similar here. Success achieved? 5 minutes of celebration, then onto the next thing. I recognised this months ago and since then I worked out where it came from (spoiler: parents). It's a constant battle, but I am able to relax way more now, which I'm very happy about.
Huge Congrats to Poland's 23-year-old Jan-Krzysztof Duda (2729) who beat Sergey Karjakin in the #FIDEWorldCup Final to take the gold medal and $110,000 first prize.
Duda had an incredible run defeating GMs Sevian, Idani, Grischuk, Vidit, Carlsen, and Karjakin.

What concepts and ideas seem universal to you in Software Development world?
My take:
- Modularity & Single Responsibility
- The only constant thing is change
- It all 'depends'
- Soft skills are at least as important as the 'hard' ones

Just published an article that begins the series in which I try to explain stuff to newcomers in the Software Development world. We start big - I share ideas and concepts that seem universal - and understanding those can bring a lot of benefits over time.

Seeing more and more of my friends benefiting from meditation - cannot be more happy. Fun thing - pretty much everyone uses completely different method or app.
@allenholub Changing how team works has (less direct, yes) impact on the rest of the organisation. Personally I'm not a fan of gatekeeping the SM role like that. If any beginner SM reads this - just try your best and try to improve, one small step at a time.
