"banned by apple" travels a lot further on x than "fixed a bug and resubmitted" ever would.

prayer lock got removed from the app store.

the reason traces back to ota updates, pushing changes to the app without running them through apple's review first, along with onboarding flows that apparently crossed into what apple flags as risky.

apps get removed over ota violations fairly often. what makes this one worth noting is the timing, since prayer lock was one of the fastest growing apps in its category right when it happened.

growth speed bought it no slack on review.

whether this was actually a policy violation or just reads better as a growth story once it's framed as one is worth sitting with.

an app with 40k downloads and no retention data raises faster than an app with 4k downloads and a real cohort curve

investors ask about growth in the first meeting and retention in the second, if there is one

plenty of rounds close before that second meeting happens
