As the wrongly jailed and punished whistleblower on the Covenant-Police child sex abuse cover-up case, I find it interesting that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter’s alleged manifesto has already been released within 24 hours. In stark contrast, the alleged manifesto of the Covenant School mass shooter has never been released by Nashville Police or TN authorities three years after the Covenant School mass shooting. On March 31, 2025, Nashville Police issued their Final Report on the Covenant School murder investigation stating they had seized 16 alleged journals with 1299 pages of written content allegedly authored by Audrey Hale, the Covenant School mass shooter. About a week later, FBI Director Kash Patel provided Megyn Kelly and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence access to review the Covenant School shooter’s alleged manifesto. During subsequent months, the FBI released 2122 pages (my unofficial count) allegedly written by Audrey Hale which is 800+ more pages than what Nashville Police actually seized. Questions: 1) How can the FBI release 800+ more alleged Covenant School shooter’s manifesto pages than Nashville Police actually seized? 2) Is Audrey Hale still alive writing additional manifesto pages, or is the FBI creating additional manifesto pages? Last week, the world lost a hero—though most never knew his name.

Ray Mouton, an attorney from Lafayette, Louisiana, risked and ultimately lost nearly everything to expose and confront the Catholic Church’s epidemic of child sexual abuse. His efforts began nearly two decades before the Spotlight investigation in Boston brought national attention to the crisis. For his courage, he was minimized, ignored, and vilified.

Years later, after he moved to France in search of distance from it all, I had the privilege of becoming his friend. Ray carried the cost of doing the right thing—but never the regret.

His book, In God’s House, is essential reading for anyone committed to protecting children and holding institutions accountable.

Anyone willing to lose everything to safeguard children is a rare kind of hero. We lost one of those rare heroes last week. Rest in peace, my friend.
