Me: is Jesus our elder brother? (Hebrews 2:11)
Trinitarian: uhhhh... Sure
Me: Is Jesus God?
Trinitarian: yes! 🤬
Me: is God your brother?
Trinitarian: ,.................
I understand fully. I don't think you understand how the law works.
I'll ask you two simple questions and we'll see if you have basic understanding of where I'm coming from...
Did David profane the Sabbath?
Was David guiltless for this act?
Let's see how intellectually honest you are...
The answer lies in His response. Jesus didn't say, hey look at these other folks who did something similar, they didn't break the Sabbath. Instead he says:
Matthew 12:3-9 ESV — David ... how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, WHICH IT WAS NOT LAWFUL FOR HIM to eat nor for THOSE WHO WERE WITH HIM, but only for the priests? Or ... the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless? I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. ... For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”
So Jesus gives TWO examples of how the Sabbath was profaned and they yet remained GUILTLESS. Don't you think He's trying to tell them that He too allowed His disciples to profane the Sabbath but they were yet guiltless?
Why was He guiltless? He tells us...
"For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath"
So picking up grain vs picking up sticks from the ground are fundamentally different? How?
Numbers 15:32-36 ESV — While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. ... "The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.” And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as the LORD commanded Moses.
You're supposed to gather twice as much on the 6th day so that you don't gather on the Sabbath:
Exodus 16:5 ESV — On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be TWICE AS MUCH as they gather daily.
The scriptures are clear.
Matthew 19:8 KJV — He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: BUT FROM THE BEGINNING IT WAS NOT SO.
You can hold on to a system put in place for sinners. I'll keep the law of the Spirit of life in Christ which was the true law from THE BEGINNING.
1 Timothy 1:9-11 ESV — understanding this, that THE LAW IS NOT LAID DOWN FOR THE JUST but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.
So no, not pro-antinomian. Just no longer under a schoolmaster and I adhere to much higher law.
Here's the truth about faith:
Romans 4:5 KJV — But to him THAT WORKETH NOT, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Let's put one and one together... If you developed your own faith...
Faith = righteousness
Self faith = self righteousness
Self righteousness is one of the most egregious sins in the bible. Just ask Job.
Here's where true faith and righteousness comes from:
Romans 3:22 KJV — Even the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD which is by FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference.
Notice the righteousness is **OF** God.
Notice the faith is **OF** Jesus.
we contribute nothing to our salvation.
Nothing.
@staleyexpress John 15:16 ESV — You DID NOT CHOOSE ME, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide,...
You seem to think YOU chose Him. Anyway good luck with your boasting. I'm sure that'll go well for you.
The point isn't whether you do or don't... It's that you can (in your world view).
According to the scriptures, you won't even have a reason to boast. If you made a choice based on qualities you gained on your own, then this glorified YOU and not God.
These concepts are not difficult.
@ProvisionistP Indeed and if God loves first and love never fails... 🤔
Romans 11:32 DBY — For God hath shut up together all in unbelief, in order that he might shew mercy to all.
@the_no_mind This is interesting. Ss a child, we were punished in school by having to write something on the board over and over, so maybe it's a lost art. But then again, associating it to punishment is probably why I've never practice it as an adult.
@chris_blodgett There is one judgment, not two. The Bema seat is made up to explain why 1Cor 3:13-15 seemingly teaches people will be saved through the lake of fire on judgment day.
The conclusion is clear....
The lake of fire is the refiners fire.
@BasedEmbraced Amen. Not sure how people can call Jesus the good shepherd and say he'll torture the goats in the same breath.
Wouldn't want that Jesus working in my farm had I owned one.
