In the wake of a reunited Europe, @coenatolin was created to prepare a new generation to think and act beyond borders.
The European story is far from complete.
All of you will help shape the Europe of tomorrow - strong, united, democratic, secure and free. https://t.co/NZrJblqYzX
Courage stronger that fear🔹Hope stronger than despair🔹
On 1 Aug 1944, the Warsaw Rising began. Driven by an indomitable will to be free, the Poles rose and fought valiantly against the German occupiers. Civilians perished in mass executions and under a continuous hail of bombs and shells. It is estimated that between 150,000 and 200,000 people lost their lives. Across the Vistula the Soviet army halted its advance; when its forces finally entered the city in 1945, Warsaw lay utterly razed—reduced to a wilderness of ruins.

It is with great sadness that the Natolin community has learnt about the sudden loss of Professor David Abulafia, a member of our Flying Faculty and Emeritus Professor of Mediterranean History at the University of Cambridge (Gonville & Caius College).
We mourn not only a great specialist, but also an exceptional person.
Professor Abulafia joined Natolin in the academic year 2017-2018. For eight years, he taught a course "Maritime History: the Mediterranean and Other Seas", where he shared his immense knowledge with our students. We will remember Prof. Abulafia for his professionalism, genuine care and kindness towards students which he showed when he supervised the work of many of our alumni on their master’s theses.
Professor Abulafia’s legacy thus survives within the community of Natolin’s alumni but also for future generations of our students through his contributions to academic research evidenced by the books which we keep in our Library.
