💬 Sustainable peace demands justice, inclusion, and women’s leadership at the centre.
“Everyone has power—how are you using yours?”
Peace is built when individuals and communities recognise their power and choose to use it to challenge violence, promote dignity, and strengthen collective wellbeing.

@WereJuliet further highlighted 4 key reflections shaping Uganda’s WPS journey:
1️⃣ Peace without Justice is not sustainable: She commended the development of Uganda’s National Transitional Justice Policy (2019) and ongoing efforts for accountability, reparations, and reconciliation. She urged more attention to survivors, children born of war, and mental health, stressing that “peace of the mind is peace too.”
2️⃣ Peace Economics — She spotlighted women’s role in agriculture and household peace, while calling out the persistent underfunding of gender and WPS initiatives. She reiterated a powerful question: “Shall we eat peace?” — emphasizing the need for economic empowerment and adequate financing for peacebuilding and GBV prevention.
3️⃣ Environmental Peace and the Climate Crisis. Juliet noted that Uganda is among the most climate-vulnerable nations globally. Yet, women are leading local climate action; restoring ecosystems, adapting to change, and influencing policy.
4️⃣ Women-led Movements — She celebrated Uganda’s growing women-led peace networks and called for continued investment in intergenerational leadership, ensuring women are not just included, but central to decision-making. #Yesto1325

🇺🇬 Today’s reminder: ᴘᴇᴀᴄᴇ and ɪɴᴅᴇᴘᴇɴᴅᴇɴᴄᴇ ᴡᴀʟᴋ ʜᴀɴᴅ ɪɴ ʜᴀɴᴅ.
True independence flourishes where peace lives; in communities that value equality, in women leading change & in young people daring to dream beyond limits.
So today, we celebrate the peacebuilders who continue to create & sustain the peace that gives our independence its true meaning. ✨
