Today, I assessed the preparations and security arrangements for the Kasipul Constituency Member of National Assembly (MNA) By-Election. In collaboration with security agencies, we have deployed officers across all 22 electoral areas to ensure peace, order, and a smooth polling process.

I held a security briefing with the County Security team at Kosele town, the Sub-County headquarters for Rachuonyo South. I commended the team for their efforts in maintaining peace during the campaign period and urged continued cooperation and support, especially on election day.

I also met with Polling Officers at Agoro Sare High School, which will serve as the Constituency Tallying Centre for the Kasipul by-election. I encouraged them to carry out their duties diligently, noting that they have been thoroughly trained by the Commission’s experts in election management.

Later, I joined Rebecca Abwaku, the @IEBCKenya Returning Officer for the Kasipul By-Election, in the opening of ballot paper pallets. The exercise was witnessed by chief agents of participating political parties, accredited observers, and the media. All parties verified the integrity of the pallets, confirmed correct serial numbers for the respective polling stations, and ensured that the correct candidates appeared on the ballot papers.

The dispatch of election materials, polling officials, and security personnel to their respective stations is underway. Upon arrival, teams will set up and prepare the stations ahead of tomorrow’s polling, which begins at 6:00 a.m.

The Commission remains committed to delivering free, fair, and credible elections.

PRONOUNCEMENT OF BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS
Pursuant to Section 132(2) of the Public Finance Management Act & Standing Orders No. 24 (1) & 232 (1) (2) (3) the CECM Finance, this morning made public pronouncement of the Budget Highlights & revenue raising measures for FY 2025/26

Own Source Revenue is expected to generate KES. 380 million from internal sources which will be achieved through leveraging on existing revenues streams and actively identifying new revenue opportunities across the County.

The budget spending estimates for the FY 2024/25 is projected to be KES. 17.56. billion. Out of the total expenditure estimates of KES. 11.12 billion (or 63.34%) will be spent on recurrent vote while KES. 6.43 billion (or 36.66 %) is allocated for development vote.

Accompanied H.E. President @WilliamsRuto to a bilateral meeting with the US Secretary of State @SecBlinken. It was agreed that negotiations on the Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership (STIP) that seeks to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries be concluded at the earliest opportunity.
