A PhD's success depends more on the fit between the student, the advisor, and the lab than on the specific topic being studied (it barely matters at all).
Similarly, a lab's success depends more on how excited (or miserable) its researchers are than on the precise project they are working on (it could be virtually anything).

Ufff, qué momento tan especial y emotivo. IMPOSIBLE NO EMOCIONARSE.

I understand that review speed is largely beyond an editor’s control. But responding to authors is.
Our invited revision has been under review for nearly 6 months, and multiple emails have gone unanswered.
Replying to emails is basic professional courtesy. It takes little time, and I see no good justification for silence over months.
I have never experienced this with another journal.

NEWS: The ERC Scientific Council has listened to the concerns from members of the research community about changes to the re-submission rules, intended to manage the surge in demand for grants.
The Scientific Council will readjust some of the changes: https://t.co/AlMC3Jts6p
Great news! 🥳 The ERC Scientific Council has considered the concerns raised by the scientific community regarding the new restrictions on resubmission after rejection and has decided to revert to the previously applied resubmission rules (for most of the grants). It is very encouraging to see the Council engage constructively in this dialogue.
