We’ve received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
We'll begin restoring access tomorrow, and will share an update soon.
We’re grateful to our users for their patience, and to everyone who worked with us on redeploying the models.
Awesome concept image! Antarctica's cold would indeed give free cooling and save water.
But power is the killer - no grid, and solar is useless for months of polar night. Logistics for building and upkeep in that isolation are extremely challenging and insanely expensive. Global connectivity would have terrible latency. Plus Antarctic treaties block commercial development like this.
We already use cold climates for data centers, just in accessible spots like Iceland with real infrastructure.

NEW: Police take 9 hours to respond after an Oakland, California gas station gets raided by dozens of thugs.
Oakland is practically a third-world country.
70 looters robbed a gas station on Friday morning, causing approximately $100,000 in losses.
An even more insane fact about the incident is that the thugs spent *40 minutes* ransacking the convenience store as police were nowhere to be seen.
$25,000 in cash was taken from the cash register and ATM.
"This is the hardest thing you could ever go through…especially if you’ve been put in sweat and tears day in and day out," the store owner said.
