I don’t entirely understand why we need so many data centers but the entire anti-data centers argument stinks to high heaven of the same scaremongering tactics that killed American nuclear power expansion in the 70’s and 80’s so I’m therefore pro data centers
This is one of those moments where I feel most disconnected from my normie friends
I'm like "do you realize what this means?" And they say "no" and I realize I will need to explain decades of nerd lore and in the end they don't care
one thing I'm trying to do is tweet more positive observations rather than critical ones. so let me just say: the trump administration appears to be utterly crushing it with respect to revitalizing the nuclear power industry in this country. it is very exciting.
@omnikomp@irl_danB Hopefully a randomized controlled trial will show survival benefit. Many, many screening approaches and attempts at scanning have not. Collecting more data has harmed many people and should not be accepted absent rigorous evidence that it leads to better outcomes.
@omnikomp@irl_danB More data isn’t inherently better nor does it lead to longer survival. It might! But it might not. You can retrain doctors, or use some other analytics, or change practices, or use AI, but theres a chance that more data is actually intrinsically, inherently worse.
Remember that any time a member of congress says this, they're also saying "if you gave me seven trillion dollars and told me to spend it making the world a better place, I'd blow through 100% of it without providing childcare for all the three- and four-year-olds in America."
@flatearthjape@uncledoomer Schematic is wrong, it has to be in a brief case hanging over your shoulder so that the bottles are below the level of the soda fountain. Trust me.
The snake stares at my closet, “Hey man, why u own so many onesies? You’re fucking 40!” I try to explain they’re socks but the other snakes are laughing too hard to hear. I wake up in a cold sweat. I shake my wife awake. “I need our label mak—” She cuts me off, “It won’t help. Snakes can’t read.”
@OfficialLiamo The concept of building an unstoppable killdozer is cool the extremely low stakes petty bougie reasoning is what makes it lame as fuck. Like building a dirty bomb because the HOA wouldn't let you keep your christmas lights up all year.
