Today, outside the Swedish Parliament at Mynttorget, we gathered to remember and demand justice for the thousands of innocent #Uyghurs massacred in the 2009 #UrumqiMassacre.
Sixteen years ago, peaceful Uyghur protesters marched for justice, #freedom, and dignity. #China’s brutal response: live fire, mass arrests (tens of thousands Uyghurs were arrested), disappearances, and a relentless genocide that persists today.
Our protest called on Sweden, @EUCouncil, and the international community to confront this atrocity with courage and recognition:
🔹 Recognize #EastTurkistan as an occupied territory
🔹Recognize China’s ongoing #genocide against Uyghurs and other Turkic people
🔹 Hold China accountable for genocide and crimes against humanity
🔹 End complicity in forced labor and repression
🔹 Support East Turkistan’s right to self-determination and independence
Millions remain imprisoned.
Our voices rise for the voiceless.
Genocide ends only through action, never silence.
