Western Digital (WDC) shares surged Friday after the company posted better-than-expected quarterly earnings and new orders from hyperscaler customers.
The data-storage company reported earnings of $1.78 a share, with revenue up 27% year over year to $2.82 billion.
"As AI accelerates data creation, Western Digital’s continued innovation and operational discipline positions us well to capture new opportunities and drive sustained shareholder value," CEO Irving Tan said.
Reflecting confidence in the company’s strong business momentum, the Board of Directors has increased the quarterly cash dividend on the company’s common stock by 25% to $0.125 per share," Tan added.
$WDC is up nearly 5% today, while shares have soared nearly 205% this year.

@marketplunger1 From what I’ve heard talking with managers, 2025 bookings coming in stronger than 2024, labor pressure not as much of an issue with their international employee base, and likely to lead to margin expansion.
