As an ex-atheist
I say to fellow Christians, there should be no shame in believing unprovable and unverifiable claims
That is the point of faith
Proof is a high ground that is only nice to have in war
The Truth is that faith in Jesus is REST, in Him peace reigns supreme
@NDisclosed86288@Joeray@Curi_Christian Weather praying to or for, do dead humans hear prayer? Do they hear all prayer? Or just if you mention them by name?
Perfectly understood God is omniscient+omnipresent
Do dead people become omniscient+omnipresent?
@RevReads289 There is no power in prayer only power to the One prayed to
There needs to be:
Power to hear
Power to answer
The same power to rise from the dead is the same power that hears and answers prayers
The power also needs to know you and discern your heart
Ascribe that power to God
@1984_nate I think the key to Biblical Christianity is to talk about what you have read, maybe prioritize what is most recent
Hearing or reading people talk about it from different perspectives (including incorrect interpretation!) is a scatter graph of the actual truth of the Bible
@1984_nate I see the dogmatic rifts between the different theological systems as a tool to push me to read around and verify.
Calvinists bless me in that way 😂
But until I read 100% and then maybe do a few re-reads would I consider myself actually biblical.
@itisjustbill@adelethelaptop Mark 2
Jesus: The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
Pretty much sums up they THOUGHT they knew the law better than anyone
Also note, Paul was a Pharisee that approved of the stoning of Stephen
Perfect understanding of the law, without Jesus, leads somewhere
@iamrjknight@Heidel_bro1563 An example is the approach of using determinism to show that God is an indivisible and simple unstoppable force
Instead of a THE Biblically good unstoppable force
This nuance is lost in using the 5 points as a heuristic or mental model IMO
Not to knock it directly
@iamrjknight@Heidel_bro1563 And at the core of all the theology is the the bulletproof goodness of God
Faith that Jesus is good frames theology and all interpretation of scripture
Anything that can lean away from this fact is not Biblical truth
There are ways to SEEMINGLY interpret well, failing this
@Curi_Christian The evidence is enough to consider the truth of the resurrection
But I would hinge my faith on His goodness 1st before the resurrection
The evidence of His good is OT+NT
I think that's the key component to our faith, that we know we put it on an actual good God that loves
@JustinCPorter And biggest of all:
Jesus raised my son more than me, and He did such a good job I am almost thankful I was atheist for a while
Even that, there is some sort of cleansing in the end
There REALLY is no condemnation
As an ex-atheist
I say to fellow Christians, there should be no shame in believing unprovable and unverifiable claims
That is the point of faith
Proof is a high ground that is only nice to have in war
The Truth is that faith in Jesus is REST, in Him peace reigns supreme
@JustinCPorter What's crazy is that you get conclusions by yourself, that you discover theologians made long ago, reading the Bible alone with zero prior study
Just keep whatever 1st gospel you read as keystone
Everything just starts clicking and making sense
