Two months after the end of the project, the members of the RUTTER team reflect on what working on the project – and on an @ERC_Research project – has meant to them, both personally and professionally. Find their stories here: https://t.co/KrECCreADz
Such a necessary book to clarify actual historical questions concerning #longitude—a topic that has been misleadingly presented as an English question, when in fact it has a long history and considerable developments with navigation in Early Modern Portugal. #Histsci
@_sergio_oe Thank you @_sergio_oe! One of the goals of the book is to show that the history of longitude goes far beyond the familiar English narrative. Portuguese cosmography and navigation played a crucial early role, long before the 18th-century debate, and deserve to be recognised.

Is it dangerous to mistake one fish for another? Yes, especially if your intention is to eat them. Read the post "Fish-Tasting and Toxic Navigation: Life and Death at Sea in 1526" by Luana Giurgevich about the case of poisoning onboard the ship Conceição.
