@grumgum09 I also saw this and had to check spriters resource lol. I think this is the only instance of this?
I do think it’s just a mistake though. I mean if I was drawing a sword I would also assume that’s where the hilt was
@grumgum09 I could see her final sword being inspired by a pommel like that
Also I don’t think it is a bat. The flared base and silhouette are just supposed to make it resemble one, which is exaggerated for that one frame that lingers
It is a “knife” after all lol
@grumgum09 Maybe I’m not looking in the right places but I can’t find a sword with a hilt like that?
Like on Dess’ it’s not even a hilt, her hand goes above it, it’s just on the bottom of the entire sword. I don’t know why a sword would be designed like that
That aspect of the design is also present in the other sprites of her sword, just sharper. I think the “bat” is morphing into a sword when she grabs it
@grumgum09 I would agree if it wasn’t such an important and lingering moment. I have to imagine Toby would pay special attention to it
The flared base of the bat specifically is insanely suspect. There is just no way that was an accident, swords are just not designed like that lol
@artichokeme_UwU Rudy has zero direct links to the Knight. All his evidence is circumstantial, outside of the antlers which Dess shares
The post you quoted + the baseball iconography are direct. They hold way more weight than anything Rudy Knight could muster
@grumgum09@LondinoStephen The fact that it’s not shaped like a bat in any other sprites IS the compelling part
That frame was specifically drawn that way and frozen on for a purpose, that being for people to make the Dess connection
@rudyrune Dess Knight is not just a byproduct of Ch2 over speculation?? The immediate reaction to chapter 3, our first confrontation with the Knight, was that it was Dess. The bat, the antlers, the stars, the BAT.
Rudy only surfaced after this. He’s far more a product of over speculation.
@img4346_jpeg It’s a very intentional misdirect, and an entirely Susie proposed mystery. And Susie is entirely wrong about her place in the prophecy and the kinda story she is in.
The tell should be in the fact that we play as Kris, and this is not a mystery to them.
@RoadieMacReady Rudy is by and large optional for most of the story, so with this logic surely you can’t be advocating for him right?
The reason Dess works is because solving the mystery of her disappearance will naturally solve the Knight’s identity. She is the culprit AND victim.
@RhockoHarrison As long as next chapter focuses on the Holidays (which it seems like it should) this wont be a problem
Once what happened to Dess is a focus, all the small things will come together.
Her presence will be felt through Noelle and Carol’s actions, both motivated by her loss
@ZacheryDew i think being frustrated is fair cause chapter 5 was frustratingly vague. A little too concerned with keeping everything a mystery for, presumably, chapter 6. Something I don’t think would’ve happened if it released all at once, where ch5 couldnt be analyzed to death
@Qusay9151 Yeah I doubt Asgore knows actually my bad, prolly just Carol and Kris
And yes Ralsei doesn’t know how that is the mystery. We have unlocked a new twist on the “who is the knight” mystery that was the point of the note
@Qusay9151 Someone DID. Asgore certainly did. And Carol likely put the lock on it.
I think Carol and Asgore both knew she was in there.
And the black shard was absolutely dropped by the Knight its the only place they come from. Why would this be mentioned in Chapter 5 otherwise?
@Qusay9151 i mean the same could be said for any Knight candidate, now that we know the Knight was there. Why would Rudy do wait that long too??
I’d have to guess she was probably trapped in the bunker, or the dark world inside it for some time. At least she has a reason to go inactive.
@Qusay9151 because she became the Knight that same night, I think. A black shard is a piece of the Knights sword and not a shadow crystal, if youre confusing them (which is actually very fair LOL)
@Qusay9151 we dont have to assume anything about the fountain, as we know a black shard was left
and no this doesnt deconfirm every Holiday. Dess was there for when it happened
Susie’s comment about “how long” its been is just her speculation
