@MagnussNipples Well I think the phrasing was intentionally ambiguous. We know he was on a ladder that day too.
But still he’s definitely too sick to be doing Knight things next chapter lol. It’s been my assumption the dark world will be made by Noelle or Susie likely to try and save him
@JnusTheCrazy I am also referring to that lol. No reason for the Knight to have connections with baseball if it’s not Dess.
Baseball being one of Dess’ like only interest we knew prior to chapter 4 makes it like impossible to be a coincidence.
@artichokeme_UwU There’s purpose in the Knight’s bat-shaped sword. The fight begins by highlighting its shape for a reason. And the only reason this can be is to remind us of Dess.
Therefore if the bat if intentional (which it is) -> Dess is the Knight
There is no other reason for a bat sword
@artichokeme_UwU The katanas in the Holiday mansion look nothing like the Knight’s sword, which has a flared base (because it’s supposed to resemble a bat).
I will concede it’s an intended connection, however upon closer inspection, they are just not similar weapons at all. A red herring.
@grumgum09 I also saw this and had to check spriters resource lol. I think this is the only instance of this?
I do think it’s just a mistake though. I mean if I was drawing a sword I would also assume that’s where the hilt was
@grumgum09 I could see her final sword being inspired by a pommel like that
Also I don’t think it is a bat. The flared base and silhouette are just supposed to make it resemble one, which is exaggerated for that one frame that lingers
It is a “knife” after all lol
@grumgum09 Maybe I’m not looking in the right places but I can’t find a sword with a hilt like that?
Like on Dess’ it’s not even a hilt, her hand goes above it, it’s just on the bottom of the entire sword. I don’t know why a sword would be designed like that
That aspect of the design is also present in the other sprites of her sword, just sharper. I think the “bat” is morphing into a sword when she grabs it
@grumgum09 I would agree if it wasn’t such an important and lingering moment. I have to imagine Toby would pay special attention to it
The flared base of the bat specifically is insanely suspect. There is just no way that was an accident, swords are just not designed like that lol
@grumgum09@LondinoStephen The fact that it’s not shaped like a bat in any other sprites IS the compelling part
That frame was specifically drawn that way and frozen on for a purpose, that being for people to make the Dess connection
@rudyrune Dess Knight is not just a byproduct of Ch2 over speculation?? The immediate reaction to chapter 3, our first confrontation with the Knight, was that it was Dess. The bat, the antlers, the stars, the BAT.
Rudy only surfaced after this. He’s far more a product of over speculation.
@img4346_jpeg It’s a very intentional misdirect, and an entirely Susie proposed mystery. And Susie is entirely wrong about her place in the prophecy and the kinda story she is in.
The tell should be in the fact that we play as Kris, and this is not a mystery to them.
@RoadieMacReady Rudy is by and large optional for most of the story, so with this logic surely you can’t be advocating for him right?
The reason Dess works is because solving the mystery of her disappearance will naturally solve the Knight’s identity. She is the culprit AND victim.
@RhockoHarrison As long as next chapter focuses on the Holidays (which it seems like it should) this wont be a problem
Once what happened to Dess is a focus, all the small things will come together.
Her presence will be felt through Noelle and Carol’s actions, both motivated by her loss
@ZacheryDew i think being frustrated is fair cause chapter 5 was frustratingly vague. A little too concerned with keeping everything a mystery for, presumably, chapter 6. Something I don’t think would’ve happened if it released all at once, where ch5 couldnt be analyzed to death
