Looking forward to presenting as part of @ISTE Taking ITGlobal #Edtech webinar series on Thursday at 3:30pmEST to talk about #TheRelevantClassroom@ascd https://t.co/PkCWOxfP3d
Had the great privilege of representing @ucdsb yesterday w/ @Kelty100 at the launch of the Kanienkehaka Advisory Circle which will assess and recommend Mohawk language speakers for teacher certification. A huge step forward in furthering Ss access to language. @Arewahgon
Great new podcast from @ocdsbxl. Amazing to hear the stories of New Canadians and their personal connections to Black Canadian soldiers from WWI as survivors of war and discrimination themselves.
Anti-racist teaching in action. Way to go @OCDSB @eric_hardie it’s an amazing initiative. ESL students find common ground unearthing story of Black WWI soldier

This morning Ss in #CUSOCI3300 had the pleasure of hosting @eric_hardie for our Educational Forum. Ss presented creative, globally aware, & reflective EL projects on Environmental Action: Looking after Waterways & The Bee Project. Also, great discussion on #TheRelevantClassroom.
Many thanks, Jason! This is a great project and an excellent example of what real-world learning looks like. Referenced your project in a presentation to some @uOttawaEdu students earlier this week. #experientiallearning#realworldlearning
@Cam_is_Learning @Made2O@WEJPS @ocdsbxl @OCDSB@CSEDOttawa Starts from top down. I wouldn’t have had the guts to do this without my principal (Irvine) and V.P.’s (Davidson) full support. It started with @eric_hardie ‘s workshop and @Cam_is_Learning ‘s mentorship! Special shout out to @MrsMottandclass for inspiration!
In referring to The Relevant Classroom by @eric_hardie one student shared, "I didn't encounter a lot of creativity in the classroom growing up. Eric Hardie's book brings creativity to the learning experience for students in the classroom". 👍
Terrific new podcast from #ocdsbxl. Listen to how a Ts first foray into #ExperientialLearning grew into a wide-ranging and highly engaging experience for Ss and Ts. @ocdsb
Great to see students jumping into our #ProjectTrueNorth. Ss are researching the men of the No 2 Construction Battalion, Canada’s first Black battalion. Using primary source documents to create a database of the entire battalion, a Canadian first. @ocdsbxl @ocdsb
@HillcrestHS students are moving on to the medical portion of their soldier’s service files in #ProjectTrueNorth. They’re really enjoying decoding the service files and “old” cursive writing. @Cam_is_Learning @ocdsbxl
Great opportunity for @ocdsb students to learn more about the myriad great opportunities in the skilled trades this Thursday @ 7pm. #ExperientialLearning#oyap
Great project from students @WEJPS - creating a #socialenterprise which makes masks, with the proceeds going to the @KanataFoodCpbrd. Helping and learning at the same time. Terrific idea.
Get your coffee and listen in this AM! Our co-op student Mike Marotta is speaking with @OttawaMorning@CBCOttawa about the @OCDSB @ocdsbxl remote songwriting program, building guitars, helping other students. I will join too.
Had a great visit today with my new friends from @PinecrestOCDSB who have been busy planning a revamp of the school gardens complete with bird feeders and raised-bed planters. They also designed coasters as a fundraiser. Great ideas! #studentvoice#ocdsbxl@ocdsb
Had the great pleasure of listening to the wisdom shared by my colleague, @iamprinceduah , and several other Black men who are educational leaders in this conversation last night. Link to a recording of the conversation in the tweet below if you missed it...
Thanks everyone for participating in the barbershop style zoom panel "Black Men in Educational Leadership: Disrupting Anti-Black Racism" w/ @Rohan_Thompson4, @garycrossdale, @MorganAinsworth, @iamprinceduah & Mike Malcolm. Recorded version https://t.co/fNep0zZqOH #abcBMEsTalk
It’s an important question, Derek. I’ll add: If we cram something into our heads to pass a test, and then forget it a week later, did we really learn it? How many of the tests we wrote in the past could we still pass today?
Listening to recent @ocdsb grads talking at #launch2020 about what their lives after high school look like: gap years, college, apprenticeship, work, entrepreneurship and university. Great insights! #studentvoice#studentsuccess
