[Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture @RICA_Rwanda]

Today, we hosted a delegation from the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, a major US based philanthropic organization, for a courtesy visit to RICA. The @buffett_susan team was taken on a tour of various RICA enterprises and visited the campus demonstration sites to gain insights into conservation agriculture practices and our entrepreneurship program.

On December 4-5, 2025, RICA hosted 58 Conservation Agriculture (CA) Model Farmers from the Gatore Sector in @KireheDistrict, as well as the Gashora and Rweru Sectors in @BugeseraDistr.
These farmers, having practiced CA for over a year, benefited from this learning visit which enhanced their knowledge of CA practices and their effective implementation.
After the workshop, farmers set goals for improving CA adoption over the next planting cycles and committed to mobilizing their neighbors to adopt CA techniques.

Key agriculture stakeholders @FAORwanda, @RICA_Rwanda and @RwandaAgriBoard have officially launched the Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization through Farmer Field Schools (SAM-FFS) program today, aiming to build smallholder producers’ capacity within the agricultural mechanization sector. Available data shows that mechanized land has doubled to 81,000 hectares in 2025 from 41,899 hectares in 2020.
