The Nationals raised skepticism after hiring three major league hitting coaches in the offseason, and it's played out well.
"A big thing I've heard is just that they all have so much feel in the room," says @SpencerNusbaum_ of @DistrictTerr.
Nats fans! I'm writing about the state of the org through the perspective of the fans.
If you’re at tonight’s game and interested in sharing your thoughts on the surging Nats, please reach out! We’ll set up a time to talk for an inning during the game.
Final: Nationals 10, Mariners 1
One year after the “it's never on coaching” claim, the Nats rout Seattle and claim their 8th series win in the last 10 series. Mikolas goes 7 scoreless, while Wood, Ruiz, Young, Crews and Lile all have extra-base hits.
Record: 37-35
The Nationals are recalling Riley Cornelio from Triple-A Rochester, per sources.
Cornelio, who turned 26 today, had a 6.58 ERA and 12.8 K/9 since returning to Rochester. Cole Henry was optioned as the corresponding move.
Final: Nationals 6, D-Backs 1
Dylan Crews (to get in a groove) and Curtis Mead (to remain in a groove) homered. Zack Littell has allowed 2 or fewer earned runs in 7 straight starts. 21-12 record on the road. 21-19 against teams over .500. Nats back over .500.
Record: 33-32
Final: Marlins 4, Nationals 1
The Nats continue to have some trouble hitting in day games. The pitching staff has reverted to some old habits, falling behind in counts. They are swept by the Marlins and fall back under .500.
Record: 31-32
Anyone who thinks the Nationals are bound for October should "pump the brakes" a bit and appreciate what they've accomplished so far, says @SpencerNusbaum_.
