73 years ago, my parents were married. On their wedding night, no hotel would give them a room because of Jim Crow. They spent the night at a Black-owned funeral home instead -- one of the few options available. But from that very first night, they chose to build a different world.
JD Vance’s book on his conversion to Catholicism is scheduled to be released tomorrow. I got advance excerpts of it over the weekend.
I wasn’t going to release my thoughts about it until tomorrow morning on CNN, but since the embargo has been broken, I’ll have more to share today.
In short, the Vice President’s egotism shines through.
A recent convert, Vance acts as if he deserves special treatment from Pope Leo XIV and the Catholic Church.
He does not. He is no better than any of us.
I lived in California for a couple of years, and I agree it's *very* annoying that the state takes so long to count ballots. But Spencer Pratt losing ground is not a conspiracy. It's totally predictable.
CA allows voters to *send* their ballots on Election Day. They have a week to get there, so some ballots that will still be counted have yet to even arrive. Left-leaning people are more likely to vote by mail. Right-leaning people—of which there are fewer in LA—are more skeptical of it, so it easily follows that more Pratt voters would vote at the actual ballot box. This is not rocket science.
Maybe California's laws should change. A week after an election is a very long time to still be accepting ballots, and it damages trust in the process. But a registered Republican heading for a loss in one of the most progressive cities in the world is not a shocker.
That is some wild, unhinged stuff from the President.
Welker is a good person and honest journalist and didn’t deserve that but more importantly we have a president who constantly pushes conspiracy theories with zero evidence and can’t respond when politely challenged on that.
Disgusting doesn’t begin to describe what Pres said about @kaitlancollins@cnn.
“I never see a smile off her face, I see her standing there with hatred in her eyes … because we have borders, b/c we have a strong military, b/c we cut taxes, b/c we do things everybody wanted.”
Imagine if Biden:
• Created a $1.8 billion slush fund to hand out to rioters who assaulted police officers
• Banned the IRS from auditing him, his family, and his companies
• Accepted a $400 million luxury jet from a foreign monarchy
Pardoned hundreds of people who assaulted police officers
• Openly promoted his own meme coin while in office
• Had family members cutting international business deals while he was in office and directly profiting from them
• Repeatedly “joked” about staying in office past two terms
• Repeatedly praised Xi, Putin, and Kim Jong Un
The outrage would never end.
The fact that people are becoming numb to this level of corruption is insane.
The corruption in broad daylight is astounding. He’s not only going to pardon J6ers, he’s going to pay them with our money, too. And use American independence as the branding!
The racist comments proudly endorsed today by Jen Kiggans warning House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to ‘Get your cotton-picking hands off of Virginia’ are disgusting and beneath any elected official. I grew up in the South. I know what these racist dog whistles mean.
