In this new essay over @TheAtlantic I argue that it's time to retire the label "Christian nationalist" as a term of political combat: https://t.co/RNKW5IW3Dk
Christianity has always influenced America—the question now is which Christian values will gain traction in political and cultural life, Heath W. Carter writes. He explores a new book that follows expressions of Christianity throughout American history: https://t.co/K8LEm6xADH
"Would you say you have been "born again" or have had a "born again" experience -- that is, a turning point in your life
when you committed yourself to Christ?"
In 1988, 37% of Americans indicated that they had a born-again experience at one point.
In 2024, it was 38%.
The share of religious Americans who agree with Christian Nationalism statements declined between 2007 and 2021.
The fed govt should advocate for Christian values:
2007 - 62%
2021 - 44%
The fed govt should enforce strict separation of church and state:
2007 - 46%
2021 - 58%
My current husband @NealFAllen and I have written a book on writing for everyone who has been writing for a while, or wants to start writing a novel or memoir or anything at all. You can buy it at your local bookstore on March 17 but can pre-order at: https://t.co/m8ddKkU5DS
In 1972, just 20% of all Christians in the United States were evangelicals.
Now, it's 35%.
During that same time period, the share of Christians who were mainline Protestants dropped in half.
From 33% to 17%.
Today there are 2 evangelicals for every 1 mainline Protestant

Estos aspectos de la iglesia presencial simplemente no se pueden replicar en línea.

Here's a map of a whole bunch of megachurches throughout the United States.
In a new paid post today, I do some initial analysis of denominational breakdown, state by state analysis and explore the relationship between population size and number of megachurches.
I’m delighted to share that @RobertRevington will publish a #ReligiousBio of Lucy Maud Montgomery—author of Anne of Green Gables—in the @eerdmansbooks series
