Here's a look at the new Philips (TP Vision) smart tv OS. It's a new, faster and more content oriented version of their Saphi OS. Philips plans to put it in more models, so next years you may see more of this and less Android tv.

For 8K, yes, but that's no loss for regular consumers (close to no content now, and none to come in the short term). Also, I doubt that manufacturers will strive for more power efficiency without external pressure

@gadghub @xm3lite Contrast will always be relevant, but today, the true measure of a display is in HDR. So brightness and saturation become more important. Therefore we focus more on color volume instead of color gamut. The former takes brightness into account, the latter doesn't.

@gadghub @xm3lite Back in the day when OLED was introduced there was no HDR. A bit simplified: we measured contrast and colorgamut. Brightness and saturation were less of an issue since both technologies were capable of filling Rec.709.

@RonWillemsen7 My LZ2000 had a slight pink tint along the bottom edge of the screen. There were some faint brighter patches on dark test screens. All in all, nothing serious enough that would disturb the viewing experience. YMMV!
