@shouldveknown11 A bit of double edged sword - without immigration, Aus will be in a recession (we are already in per capita recession) and cheap labor does reduce inflation, but you are right, hosing affordability is atrocious, however apartment units supply are still ok but not house

@saltyreigns I think to start a new centrist-right party, it should embody common sense, recruit social media-savvy people who are honest, transparent and be a good communicator. It would also be nice to have candidates without extreme prejudice or opinions.

@aniobrien The problem isn’t exactly the plastic, it’s really how to dispose them safely. Plus there can sometime be plastic used to line the inside the of paper straw to prevent it from getting soggy , which make microplastic debate kinda a moot point.

@NuZillund Yes. Because when the big emitter are not taking part, then it becomes burdensome to smaller economies like the NZ. But we also shouldn’t abandon this goal of net neutrality, just let free market decide. If carbon neutral tech is more economical then it will win anyway

@MikeySmithNZ Just cut tax on fuel and this will put more money into people and businesses. Since NZ already have high GST, doesn’t boost the transactions in the economy a better way to raise revenue? People won’t spend when they don’t have the money.

@chrisluxonmp Everything the gov want to achieve requires cheap energy and human capital. Can the gov work on the fundamentals rather than just a bunch of KPIs? Reducing energy cost will put money into individual and businesses, don’t attract migrants, just stop people from leaving

@TheRedbaiter Do we know if NZ have large hydrocarbon deposits that’s untapped due to policy? Quickest energy source may actually be geothermal if we are going to drill. In any case gov should get rid of the tax on fuel and this will instantly boost the economy,
