@JReidESPN Why are you so sure he had to know? I know a lot of folks who are actually not in the least way savvy about business communications--and not to be all generational about it, but it is a famous marker of the millennial generation.
@Snide_Remarks ALL I'm suggesting is proceed thoughtfully, as it's a "popular history" claim that has more nuance than is often reported (and has been claimed from medieval Europe to 19th-c America). I hope and trust you'll do just that.
@Snide_Remarks Whoa, man, rein it in--no "automatic attack" here! Know your backgrounds, too: I've got an MA in US history and worked at Monticello for 5 years.
@Snide_Remarks Please investigate this "beer was safer than water" claim really thoroughly and don't share without proof (no alcohol pun intended). As I recall, it is something that gets claimed often but that there's very little actual evidence that that was the reason for the beer-drinking.
@john_keim@RealBramW@ESPNRichmond I did hear you all correctly at the end there--comparing the situation with the behind-the-scenes maneuvering to _Succession_, right? (as opposed to "the session") An apt parallel if so!
@Snide_Remarks I dunno, "an agreement to sell" isn't the same thing as "sale" in my book. When the actual sale happens, I'd absolutely expect it to be A1 news.
@AlbertoCairo I think it won't because "watch" and "warning" are not distinct enough words (not least with both starting with "wa").
Many will say "I know one of them is the taco ingredients and the other is a taco we're about to eat, but I still can't remember which is which."
@ChristySColeman I was going to say _From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler_ ๐. But kinda-sorta more in line with the Gardner question (which I think is probably tops), maybe Piltdown Man? Or the 1911 theft of the Mona Lisa?
@UpstateGIS @ArcGISPro @WarrenDz @sarahbellmaps Beautiful work! I admit I double-took (double-taked?) when I saw it in the map gallery. I used to work at Monticello and have friends and colleagues that live at Lake Monticello. Didn't expect to see something so close to home!
@thehill@TheHillOpinion This just exacerbates the problem of lack of respect by once again claiming that โanybody can be a teacherโ no matter their (lack of) qualifications. Would we do this for doctors? And it does nothing to address the other major driver of the shortage: low pay. โGeniusโ my ass.
