The tribalism doesn't bother me as much any more. It's the immaturity. Imagine being over half a century old, and never graduating from the talking points of 30 years ago. Because this tribalism conversation is the same as Moi's days, it's the same as the colonial days when the British divided us into tribal reserves. We're not being allowed to mature or grow up. It's what @jnyairo said: tribalism is an ideology of stasis. Who you were at birth is who you remain till kingdom come. You have no brains, no achievements, no historical context. Just what's on your ID card.
So you become a lawyer, doctor, teacher at 25, and at 50, your work has given you a wealth of experience to talk about society and the world, and to expand conversations to "how do we make law, medicine, education, etc build our country?" Instead, what do you find?
You are drowned in petty conversations about who this, who that... before you know it, this is the conversation:
Young people: "The economy isn't growing, get out and we take over from you."
You: "But I know why it's not growing and that's the conversation I want to have."
Githeri media: "That's theory and it's irrelevant to the market. Where's your solution for fixing the nation?"
Young people: "Yes, that. Whatever the media said."
We have a maturity problem in Kenya. We're just not being allowed to grow up. Funny thing is, in three decades, the youth will be in the exact same position, wondering how come it is that they look to their children like the very generation they used to criticize.

I just want to be a good man.
Everything else can become subordinate to it
To Build well.
To Love well.
To Lead well.
To Provide well.
To Tell the truth.
To Keep my word.
To Do useful things.
To Don’t become cruel in pursuit of success.
A good man who becomes powerful is interesting.
A powerful man who becomes good is rarer.

@alexmwanzo I have seen this story play out every single time.
A company makes profit for itself and generates revenue for the government then a disgruntled person says the community doesn't have its needs represented.
Firm closes, jobs lost. Someone's private interest wins, country loses.
During colonialism, Pokot Mau Mau intelligence units advised Pokots to secretly boil potatoes before planting them so that they don't germinate. A night before planting, the potatoes were secretly boiled. No harvest for British colonial land robbers. There were many diverse clandestine acts of covert resistance across what became Kenya so that what happens? So that Mzungu Arudi Ulaya, Mwafrika Apate Uhuru = MAU MAU. Whoever was involved in resisting and organizing against the British colonial land robbers in the territories that became Kenya is Mau Mau. Some histories and peoples are known, yet some are unknown. Resistance was to eject the British from African lands. But a snake oil merchant selling ethnic poison wants Kenyans to believe that only Kikuyu were fighting to eject the British from their fertile lands, and, that the British were only ejected using an English dictionary recited in Lancaster by two Luo elites. All our ancestors made a contribution towards MAUMAU including Pokots, Luhya, Kamba, Kalenjin, Luo and others. Jaramogi and Mboya would agree. Anyway, I grew up in the maize plantations of West Pokot. I lived in Kapenguria for many moons. I often visited the Kapenguria Seven (not six!) jail. Whenever we had visitors at home, I took them there, took a huge key from a police officer, and we walked around the jail. Wacha niende mimi Mungu mwema. I will whisper other stories unto your ears later. Na Mchague David Maraga. This time sitachoma bet. Last time iliungua🥲. ⚖️
@KenyanSays The announcement in red at the bottom is very loud. Maybe if they started with that VCT centre, airport works would have progressed much sooner.
We may never know

“Whether that is five minutes or 90 minutes, it doesn't really matter. It's about showing I can deliver anytime”.
