Our new study is out! We took my previous research in @EnvSciTech--which found that gas stoves leak even when off--one step further. We found that these leaks contain benzene and can result in increased benzene concentrations indoors, in some cases comparable to secondhand smoke.

@publicmarisa @KHayhoe We only measured 13/53 cooktops that had an electric oven so hard to make a comparison with the small dataset. Definitely something to look at in the future though! Gas ovens did emit methane particularly when they first turned on and while maintaining temperature...
